WHY CREATE PATCHES INSTEAD OF USING DIRECT EMBROIDERY? PATCHES ARE VERSATILE You can apply patches anywhere, affixing them to apparel in many ways: stick on, sew on, iron on, velcro on! PATCHES ARE CONVENIENT Attach patches to shirts, jackets, duffle bags and more as you need them -- and save the rest for later! PATCHES ARE EYE-CATCHING A patch has a 3-D texture so the logo stands up and stands out, making them the focal point of any garment. PATCHES ARE AFFORDABLE Patches are often less expensive than direct embroidery, especially on designs with a high stitch count. PATCHES STAY FLAT AND NEAT Direct embroidery can cause apparel to gap and pucker; patches lay flat. PATCHES ARE FASHIONABLE Because the colors and backgrounds "pop" and because patches can be attached anywhere, they make a big fashion statement. PATCHES ARE COLLECTIBLE Patches don't need to be on a garment to be valuable! Hand them out to customers as a promotional item -- you'll see a pleased reaction! |

Embroidered patches are a great solution to many embroidery production issues. Many times, an embroidered patch that is heat applied to the front of a basball hat or knit cap will look better than direct embroidery -- the patch is sewn with no disruption from a garment seam and no need to worry about a curving surface. Plus, the heat transfer backing means no stitches run through to the inside of the garment!
Further, patches allow for the same art to be used across a wide range of fabrics, locations and colors. Because embroidered patches are sewn as self-contained pieces of art, little concern need be given to the type of fabric on which the patch is to be used, or if the location of the logo will be difficult to embroider, or if the colors of the garment will show through and affect the design. With a patch, all of these issues are eliminated! And because patches are typically less expensive to create than direct embroidery, customers often buy patches in quantities larger than their initial need and then hold and use them as new garments are required! Patches can be created with backings made of heat transfer material (the most common method of attachment), velcro or double-sided tape (for using the same patch on a variety of garments), PVC plastic (to make a hard backing) and more. Or the patches can be left unbacked for direct sewing onto a garment. This variety of backing options provides the customer with many ways to use an embroidered patch. Patches can be designed in just about any shape and color -- no need to stay with a circle or rectangle! Take a look at the sample patches below for ideas on ways to dress up your logo and create an embroidered patch.
